About Us

A piece of the Gulf's maritime history has been given a new lease of life by a group of enterprising boaties ,and Kawau Island residents. When the  Kawau Island Yacht Club Club was closed back in April 2014 an important asset in the Hauraki Gulf for boaties was lost. The club and its amenities are the only facilities for the boating public on an island in the Hauraki Gulf which are operated by a Club and which offer all weather shelter. The new Kawau Boating Club Incorporated (our legal name)was registered in Sept 2014 and reopened at Labour Weekend. Since then there has been overwhelming support from the boating community with almost  800 members on board when we closed for winter 2015. This has enabled us  fund up-grading of the Clubhouse and associated facilities. 

(As a NZ Incorporated Society we are in effect wholly NZ 'owned' by our members.)
