TOTAL FIRE BAN ON KAWAU ISLAND FROM 31 OCTOBER 2018
We are now moving into a prohibited fire season commonly known as a TOTAL FIRE BAN.
You can however operate a gas BBQ (no permit required for these) or some fully contained fires which have a special fire permit issued by Chris Carding, FENZ (Fire Emergency New Zealand) Kawau
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION: What happens if I light a fire without a fire permit during a restricted or prohibited fire season?
FIREWORKS: Please no fireworks on Kawau Island anywhere, that includes from/off boats or pontoons. They are a major threat, just one stray projectile could see our island gone with a huge risk to us and all living creatures here.
It’s not about not having fun it’s just not safe to light fireworks here on Kawau Island and your fire team asks that you please respect this.

THE NEW KAWAU BOATING CLUB.
Successor to the wonderful old KIYC (1952), Kawau Boating Club opened its doors Labour Weekend 2014. Since then significant up-grades have taken place to the Clubhouse and facilities, and our new managers David and Robyn Lee are providing top quality service, food and beverages.
Members receive a discount on beverages, free access to showers, water, laundry and Wi-fi access in the Clubhouse. More important though - subscription revenues keep the Club going and help fund the up-grading of facilities. And keep the doors open. Support from the boating community since has been outstanding with almost 800 members by closure for the winter in 2015. Latest boating Club to affiliate is Outboard Boating Club ( Auckland) joining RNZYS, Ponsonby CC, Devonport YC, Richmond YC, Sandspit YC and Mahurangi CC. If this continues, KBC continues. Please join or renew.
